I'm leaving HC, what about my Google data?

Once you leave Hesston College, your Google account will stay active thru the next full semester following your departure (e.g. If you leave at the end of a spring semester you will have access to all your info through the end of the next fall semester).
For faculty and staff
who are leaving HC employment, your account will remain active for as long as your supervisor has authorized it with a date given to the IT Department.

To take data you have stored on Google Drive with you, there are several options:
  • For a single file or folder, the easiest and simplest way is to download that document or folders, and then upload them to a personal Google account or other location of your preference.

  • You can transfer all your HC email and Google Drive data to a personal Google account.
Note: Your HC Google Drive account provides unlimited storage. However, a personal free Google account has a limit of 15 GB. For that reason, before you transfer data to your personal account we recommend you purge unwanted messages/files off your HC account first.

Related notes:
  • Google also allows you to transfer file/folder ownership by following these instructions. However, ownership transfer will only work for @hesston.edu accounts.

  • If you are an employee you can also ask IT to transfer ownership of Google Docs to another person at the college.
